2023 Annual Campaign
Houston summers are hot. Really hot. When you’re a young person experiencing homelessness during such a harsh season, the challenge of living without a secure home can be dangerous, if not life-threatening. When the temperatures start to rise, we’re always thinking of ways we can help the youth of Grace Place escape the heat.
Keeping our youth cool isn’t just about providing an air-conditioned space and cool drinks during our twice-weekly Youth Nights (though we do that too!) It’s about helping them feel cool. We make sure weather-appropriate clothing is stocked in our boutique space, Tracy’s Closet, and help our youth find outfits that encourage confidence and self-expression. We collaborate with community partners who provide fun and engaging programming, like song and poetry writing, art therapy, and game nights. We aim to cultivate a safe space where the vibes are chill and our youth know they can relax and feel secure.
